As the Owner and Principle at EWA, Ed works diligently to make sure that every client experiences a unique and personalized design solution for their project, large or small.  Sustainability is of top priority, and Ed leads his team with great passion to insure that each project receives innovative solutions that make for elegant, durable, healthy and economical built environments.

 

Ed leads the way in design expertise and project procurement.  Having twenty-eight years of architectural experience in civic, commercial, institutional, hospitality, and residential design, he possesses in-depth skills in all phases of design, construction, and management.  Specialties include: master planning, sustainable design, high performance building technology, historic rehabilitation and renovation.

 

Ed is a Licensed Architect in the State of West Virginia, the State of Florida, the State of Illinois and Washington D.C..  He is an accredited LEED AP BD+C (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Building Design and Construction), holds membership in the American Institute of Architects, is the past Board President of the Covenant House of West Virginia, was the founding Vice President of the USGBC-WV Chapter, and is a former Board Member of Habitat for Humanity Chicago.

 

With experience ranging from high performance new construction to rehabilitation and historic preservation projects, small building additions to urban design projects, Ed’s talents cover a very broad spectrum of clientele and architectural services. EWA’s most recent successful project is a completed 30,000 square foot bank and office headquarters in downtown Charleston.

With Twenty-eight years of architectural experience in residential, commercial, institutional, and governmental design, Michael is highly skilled in all phases of design, construction, and project management.  Being a Licensed Architect in the State of Michigan and in the State of Illinois,  Mike has extensive experience as a Project Architect and Design Manager.  

 

Mike’s portfolio if full of a wide range of unique and challenging projects.  However, he is especially skilled in historic rehabilitation and renovation of public buildings, ADA assessment and compliance in renovations, and technical expertise in production and quality control of Construction Documents and Specifications.

 

Some of his recent work at EWA includes the design and detailing of MVB Bank, a 30,000 square foot bank headquarters and office building, a 6,000 square foot residential historic renovation project, as well as multiple assessments and solutions for abatement of water infiltration issues.

Matt is a fantastic leader throughout the Design and Construction Document process.  He has over 15 years of architectural experience with a focus on residential, educational, judicial, correctional, financial, and religious facilities.  His past experience and training have afforded him the ability to produce all levels of drawings required throughout the Construction Document process.   

 

With great speed and precision, Matt has led production teams on numerous award-winning projects.  His vast knowledge of drawing software is greatly appreciated and utilized at EWA.  Matt’s broad spectrum of software includes: AutoCad, Microstation, and as a strong background in 3D modeling and rendering.
